Does anyone else feel like most restaurants despise us?
I swear every time I go out to eat, it's like pulling teeth trying to get a decent vegan meal. Either there's literally ONE sad option on the menu (usually a plain salad or fries), or the server looks at me like I've grown a second head when I ask about ingredients.
Yesterday I went to this new place that supposedly had "vegan options" according to Happy Cow, and the only thing they could offer was a veggie burger... with dairy in the patty. When I asked if they could modify anything else, the chef apparently said it would "compromise the integrity of the dish." Since when is leaving cheese off a pasta dish compromising integrity??
And don't get me started on the eye rolls when you ask if something is cooked in butter or has hidden animal products.
Anyone else constantly feel like an inconvenience just for trying to eat out? What are your worst restaurant experiences? Any places that actually treat vegans like valued customers?
