Will the NCC be obsolete due to the Counseling Compact?

I passed the NCE two weeks ago and yesterday I found out I didn't apply for the NCC when the university endorsed me, last summer. The application fee is $250!!! I'm curious if the NCC will even be worth it due to most states joining the counseling compact? I'm in SC and my understanding is it goes into effect in 2025 for us. Between two exams I've already paid the NBCC over $500. I can't see giving them another $250 especially if the certification will be useless. TIA for any insight!
