Would you have preferred if Terra had remained in the team or not?
In my opinion:
If Beast Boy had been able to convince her in Things Change and she actually remembered them.
Personally, I'm more prone to canon things, Terra not remaining in the team is canon, so I guess it's pretty easy to guess my opinion.
I feel like her being in the team would have really changed the team dynamic. That could turn out good for some and maybe bad for others, like how Raven didn’t seem to like Terra even after she sacrificed herself. I have a feeling Raven would be stuck in her room more, as Beast Boy (his attention probably on Terra) wouldn’t pry her out. (Not about ships.) Of course, the others could, but that was just one example. I feel like it would be too much work for Raven to build up trust in Terra again. (And in Things Change, no one looked too thrilled about Beast Boy seeing Terra, to be honest.)
So I feel like (IMO) it would just have caused changes I didn’t ask for, and it’s good the way it is, that she revived herself and is living a separate, normal and hopefully happy life.
I’ve seen people say that if she were a part of the team, that would make the number of girls and boys the same, or it would make the number of members even, but I just don’t understand the logic in that. What’s wrong with having two girls and three boys? It’s perfectly fine the way it is, and the team dynamic has nothing wrong with it, no one gets left out of anything. And what’s better about having an even number of members? What makes it better? Does it just look or feel better? Someone please explain it to me, because I don’t understand that reasoning.
If she had stayed with them from the beginning.
Could have been a fun idea, good enough for fanfics, but in the actual series, I think Terra's villain arc, betrayal, or whatever you want to call it is really important, so I don’t think it would have worked this way at all.
(And that would mean the theme song would have to be changed, btw, because it would be weird if there were one more official team member for the rest of the series, but we didn’t see her in the opening.)
So overall... No. Things are good the way they are.
