Gastric cancer?
Hi everyone, I have a long history of acid reflux that is resistant to treatment. I had an endoscopy and colonoscopy in July 2024 that was completely negative but my reflux is very persistent. I have mild gas, reflux after every meal (my throat is always hurting), some quiet burping, and indigestion. Some herbal remedies (DGL etc) have helped a bit, but not really. I have not lost any weight, and I still eat often. Everyone here seems to say that an endoscopy often (maybe even typically?) misses early gastric cancer and there’s no reason to feel at ease even with negative biopsies (and negative H pylori). And my symptoms have gotten worse since January. Editing to add I also have shortness of breath quite often especially doing things around the house. Walking helps a little if I go slow.
Also editing to add my ferritin is abysmally low, but it’s been like that for years, prior to my symptoms. First saw that in 2022. (I had an endoscopy then too for something unrelated, negative then as well)
I recently found out I’m 5.5 weeks pregnant too, and I’m so happy about that but also heartbroken because I have convinced myself I am going to be pregnant with GI cancer and die before I can truly enjoy motherhood. I recently moved and have a new GI but they’re hesitant to repeat testing. Any advice helps, I’m just absolutely terrified. Every gastric cancer story seems to mimic mine, and I can’t do any workup now , probably.
