Mixed feelings on daycare/boarding...am I the only one?
We picked our boy up from boarding Sunday afternoon. It is a daycare/boarding facility that is "play all day". Play starts around 7 am and ends around 6pm. I like the place bc they posted pics of the pups playing on FB every day so you could see how they were doing. Some of the staff posted on the pics that they were all "obsessed" with him and what a lovey boy he is (he is.) He also got a report card when he left. All that being said, the exhaustion since we brought him home is bordering on frightening. He's been sleeping a good chunk of the time since he's been home and he's so tired when he's awake. He went into the bathroom, grabbed a roll of tp and just went "eh..." and dropped it on the floor like it just wasn't worth the effort...lol. He has SO many scrapes and marks from playing with the other dogs. I know he plays rough so no big surprise there but he has marks all over him. He's a pit mix with very short hair so I can see everything. He's sleeping again, this is not a normal nap time for him, although he did get an influenza vaccine today so he may also be tired from that. I know they need social interaction and I know this was extreme since he was there for 2 weeks. We were not permitted to take him to our vacation rental as he was over the weight limit. I'm just not sure how anything that makes them THAT exhausted can be healthy, not to mention all the "owies". I'm considering doing daycare once in awhile just for him to get some socialization but I seriously have reservations. Input please? I'm not dissing the facility at all. I think it's a wonderful, professional facility.
