why am I finding micro so difficult?
I’m taking microbiology this spring as my last pre-req while finishing up applications for programs starting in the fall. I originally figured it wouldn’t be too bad since I’ve heard it’s easier than A&P I & II, which I managed to get a C+ and B in. Plus, since I’ve already been accepted into one program, I thought I’d just need to pass. But now I’m honestly worried about even passing and possibly having to withdraw my acceptance. Still, I’m not giving up — I really want to figure out how to lock in from here.
Right now, I’m sitting around a 72%, but I’m hoping to push that up to at least an 80% if I can. I think my biggest challenge is getting lost in all the long, “made-up” words — the names of bacteria, spores, and characteristics — that I have no real foundation for. It reminds me a bit of what dragged me down in anatomy — the practicals— so I’m wondering if this is just a pattern with the way I process certain concepts. For anyone who’s been through micro, how did you study and keep all of this straight? Sorry if what I'm trying to explain doesn't make sense. Any study tips?
