Precon commander deck for beginners - Suggestion
Hi all,
Let me start by saying I know absolutely nothing about MTG, this is my first approach to this world and I apologize if my concerns seem dumb or have been asked before. I've seen a couple of similar posts but I'm not sure if it answered everything I have in mind. My card game knowledge is also fairly limited, I've only played the One Piece TCG for about 6 months, and that's it, many of the references I will be making will probably be linked to OPTCG so if anybody plays that game and wants to answer in the comments with OPTCG references, it will be ideal.
I'm looking for a commander deck to play casually, I want to get my cousins and friends involved in some home activities during this holiday season, we usually play other board games or OPTCG during the weekends, for fun. The main problem with OPTCG is that it's limited to 2 players, so I think commander is great next step, specially if more people can join in.
I went to my local game store website and checked which precon decks they sell, here's the list:
Duskmourn - Jump Scare!
Duskmourn - Death Toll
Duskmourn - Miracle Worker
Modern Horizons III - Creative Energy
Modern Horizons III - Tricky Terrain
Modern Horizons III - Graveyard Overdrive
Outlaws of Thunder Junction - Most Wanted
Outlaws of Thunder Junction - Desert Bloom
Murders at Karlov Manor - Deadly Disguise
Wilds of Eldraine - Virtue and Valor
Dominaria United - Painbow
Dominaria United - Legends Legacy
Streets of New Capena - Cabaretti Cacophony
Streets of New Capena - Bedecked Brokers
I would love to know if a specific one of these is better than the others, and what your suggestion would be for a beginner to purchase, I asume you buy the precon and then buff it with singles, at least that's how we do it on OPTCG with starter decks. I'd prefer a deck that can last a while and doesn't get completely stomped, so I don't find myself buying a new one every few months. But I'm not looking for anything too strong or meta defining, I want things to be more fun than competitive, so something that doesn't punish a beginner for making a mistake would be best.
At the same time, if all of these options are pretty bad, I can look for alternatives in other stores or online, but I live outside of the US so getting these can be trickier or much more expensive.
Feel free to ask in the comments to help me out even further, hopefully I can understand all of your concerns as well, thanks in advance!
