Which ereader is best for me?
There are a few requirements I have (ordered by priority)
• display size - something around 7" (kindle paperwhite 11 fulfills this)
• affordability - using the kindle pw 11 as a reference point again, it should be around that price range. If not, then cheaper or with a solid second-hand market i can buy used ones from
• native epub support - if i borrow Libby books from a library outside the US, i should be able to get that DRM'd epub/pdf onto my ereader
• dark mode - don't think i need to explain this
• ability to sideload ebook files - if i buy an epub book online, i should be able to get that onto my ereader
• manga/comics - even if it takes a bit of extra effort, manga and comics should fill the whole screen and thick white borders shouldn't be there
• speed - buttons should work when i tap on them. i am aware that it will be noticeably slower than a phone, but i shouldn't need to tap multiple times for a menu to open because the hitboxes(?) are too small.
• web browsing - i like reading news on 68knews.com
• custom fonts - not a priority but a nice thing i'd like to have.
• scribbles! - not a priority at all, but kobo has this feature where you can make lil doodles and have them save on it. I'm aware it's a very limited feature, just wanted to mention it's a thing i like.
