Biopsies in the past, IBC while pregnant?
I’m 38F and have a history of an infection in my left breast that looked like IBC, but it wasn’t. I insisted on an MRI that resulted in a biopsy in my right breast but it was ultimately negative (PASH).
My left breast has always been just slightly larger than my right. I just found out I’m 6 weeks pregnant after many years of infertility. I have some left underarm tenderness and my left breast looks gigantic. It’s nearly double the size of my right one and so heavy. I’m terrified. I know breast swelling happens during pregnancy, but only one breast? I’ve heard stories of women getting diagnosed with IBC while pregnant and initially attributing unilateral swelling to the pregnancy itself.
I will see a breast specialist soon, but I can’t do a contrast MRI while pregnant. I know an ultrasound can’t really diagnose IBC. If anyone has suggestions or advice, they are more than welcome. Thank you.
