Advice/opinons?

Hi the past 3-4 weeks I started waking up with severe numbness and pain in my hands, I had an ultrasound done and the Dr told me carpal tunnel in both hands, however he didn’t explain the results very well I also have no idea why I have this as I’m not very physical with my hands and don’t do anything repetitive, could some please explain these results and any possible reason as to why this has happened? Thank you!!
