Struggling to Find Housing with an Infant in Brookline/Mission Hill/JP

Hey everyone,

My wife and I are looking for housing in Brookline, Mission Hill, or Jamaica Plain for a 4/1 move-in, and we’ve been having an incredibly difficult time. We both have 820+ credit scores and make around 7x the rent, yet we keep losing out to other applicants.

At this point, we suspect it’s because we have an infant. The second landlords see that on our application, they likely choose another tenant to avoid dealing with lead paint inspections or treatment. We’ve applied to about 20 places, done countless showings, and keep getting the runaround. It’s been an absolute nightmare, especially since we need to move for work.

Does anyone have advice on how to navigate this? Any leads on child-friendly landlords or buildings in the area? We’re exhausted and running out of options.

(I know it’s illegal for them to discriminate, but they’re doing it anyway :/)
