Wuthering Waves Improvement Proposal: Combat, Elements, and Story Depth
Wuthering Waves has great potential to become one of the leading open-world RPGs. However, there are aspects of the combat system and storyline that could be improved to provide a deeper gameplay experience and better immersion for all players. Here are some suggestions for enhancing the game.
1. Combat System and Elemental Interactions
Currently, elements do not play a significant role in combat, and there are no elemental reactions. Introducing the ability for all characters to apply negative effects would make the combat system more engaging.
Suggestion:
- If all characters in a team share the same element, their weapon attacks should have a 20% chance to inflict a negative status effect of that element.
- If the team consists of characters with different elements, the party should receive a defensive bonus of +5% for each unique element.
Justification: This system would allow players to choose different playstyles. Some may prefer a mono-element team for stronger attacks, while others might opt for a balanced team for defensive benefits. Additionally, this change would be beneficial for players who prefer playing with a single character, as they would still gain the ability to inflict status effects.
2. Introduction of Physical Damage
Currently, the game lacks physical damage, which creates situations where certain enemies become nearly invincible to specific characters. For example, Glacio Prisms are completely immune to Glacio attacks, meaning a Glacio character like Sanhua cannot harm them even with her sword.
Suggestion:
- Introduce physical damage, set at 15% of the character's attack stat.
Justification: This change would allow players who prefer using a single character to have a fair chance against all enemies. Even if a creature is composed entirely of fire, the impact force of a weapon should still interact with its structure, causing some damage. This would make combat more logical and prevent situations where certain enemies become impossible to defeat without switching characters.
3. Character Development and Story Integration
The main character currently feels somewhat bland due to their amnesia. However, their personality could be developed through interactions with companions.
Suggestion:
- Introduce characters who will accompany the protagonist throughout the entire story.
- For example, Aalto and Yangyang could travel alongside the protagonist, influencing their development and enriching the story.
Justification: At the moment, characters only appear within their specific storylines, limiting their development. Adding permanent companions would allow the protagonist to be fleshed out more through their interactions and reactions to events. Additionally, this would make the narrative more dynamic, with noticeable character growth and emotional depth.
These changes would benefit not only players who enjoy actively switching between characters but also those who prefer playing with a single character. They would make the combat system more diverse, add logical consistency to attacks, and enhance the depth and emotional impact of the story.
