I feel like most people misinterpret Ryoshu’s art.
Whenever people talk about Ryoshu's art, it's always the same stuff about 'oh, she's just a super-sadist' or 'eh, she just likes gore.'
But both of these can be dispelled - the super sadist allegations are based on people not really getting that she doesn't take pleasure out of the direct suffering, she takes it out of the artwork it produces.
This can be seen in Seven Ryosgu's uptie story - she turns two people into masses of mutilated flesh unrecognisable as human anymore - and it is mentioned that Seven Ryoshu in particular is pretty good at making Ryoshu art.
The 'oh, she just likes gore' allegations are also notably flawed - see the fact that she very much dislikes how the ring operates. This shows that she has artistic preferences, clearly valuing how the artwork has been created as a result of time and culture as oppose to messages and values.
This can be backed by Warporation Corporation Ryoshu's uptie story - she loves the warp trains, because of the unique and valuable artwork on there. It is stated that she takes great pleasure in the pieces of art that have evolved over countless millennia, just to be cumulated in one exhibition for her and her crew to study - she enjoys the artwork as a reflection of culture, worldview, and stylistic preferences.
Another thing to look at is LCB Sinner Ryoshu's kit - all of her moves are artistic techniques, and it is seen in the base animations that she is also wuite calculated and surgical in the way she does things, in the regard of her goals - to make art.
Also, Ryoshu doesn't just like gore. She also enjoys things like succeeding where the impossible lies, or poetic tales that hold those little gems of cumulated culture - this is seen both in canto IV and VII (though in VII she dislikes the role she was given).
As such, Ryoshu's art is more a reflection of culture and style than plain sadism or gore, but then that asks why people are her preferred medium? Well, that's just because she likes fighting.
