Hard decision, 2nd gen or 3rd gen.

Just got an insurance payout for totaling a second gen and now have the luxury/curse of getting to pick out whatever new Tacoma I want. I was really really set on getting a 2013-2015 to get the most modernized version of the second generation Tacoma and keep with the 4.0. But it does seem to be quite a bit harder to find one fitting my wants for a decent price and that had me considering the newer 3rd generation with the 3.5, what do you guys think? Stay stubborn with the old reliable 4.0 or break down and get the newer truck with the less proven 3.5?
