What reason would Tatsumaki have to protect Psykos?

This still bugs me to this day. She hates those people for what they do to espers, but why would make up a scene to protect Psykos of all people? Mind you, this is the same woman who crushed her with her own power, trash talked her and looked down on her, crucified her, would have pulvirized her if it weren't for Genos and Drive Knight, threatened to kill the most important person to her, and is a threat to humanity as a whole.

Tatsumaki actually WAS about to kill her but she reached her limit. Then a few days later she forgets about all that and trusts Fubuki with her? Does she want to learn how Psykos got such immense power? I just can't figure it out for some reason.
