Comic Question

I’ve started reading the first compendium of Invincible after watching the show. Is it worth reading it?!

I’m kinda getting bored of the same story, I just wanna know how much the show skipped over and if I should just move on to compendium 2 and save the first one for another time?

And even further, if I do skip compendium 1 will I still understand what’s going on?
