Why girls are like this😭?

I (19m) was recently texting a girl (19f), I'm unsure about our relationship.

She messaged me saying, "I know this is weird for you, but I wanted to tell you something," and I thought, "Woohoo, maybe she's going to propose to me!" I started getting excited, and my heart was racing, blushing hard for those 2–3 minutes.

But then... 😭 she started complaining about how I don't message her first, that I don't want to talk to her, and that I don't value her, blah blah blah...

Honestly, I don't message her first because I don't want to come across as desperate.

TL;DR: I thought my friend was going to propose to me, but instead, she started complaining, and it ruined both of our moods.
