Two tweets I found really important regarding this situation

So yeah, maybe a bit more hostile than I would have phrased it, but I do agree with the sentiment. Most Patreons of the show are TomJake fans (just look at Jakelope) so at the end of the day ONC should prioritize creating content that appeals to them. I'm not saying other characters don't deserve spin-offs just because they are less popular though, but money runs the world so it is what it is. I'm also not shaming non-Patreon fans, everyone is free to do with their money as they please and still enjoy the show. I'm just saying that in the end the most logical move is doing this season 2 so they can maybe get more funds.

It is also worth noting that Jared says that the entire budget of the 2nd season will come from this crowfunding and not from Patreon. So it is supposedly won't affect the quality of the main show. In fact, a proofreader posted it here that in case the show gets made they would hire a new team of animators for it.
