Time and Cost Reduction Question

How will it affect the ongoing upgrades? Since almost all upgrade time decrease up to 50%. So, for example, if I have an ongoing upgrade 6 days left out of 12 days (after the update it will become only 10 days), after the update will it become 3 days? Do they reduce the days left proportionate?
