A lot of modern entertainment is just voyeurism

The true crime genre is booming. People love sitting down on the couch and getting a safe scare out of people's suffering. But they don't realize that there are actual people in the real world who have to endure this.

Another part of this whole voyeuristic entertainment is that victims are dehumanized. No one cares about the victims and how their life is going to be. The killers and psychopaths are much more interesting. No one cares that their neighbor might actually have lived through the pain that is portrayed in that Netflix show you found super suspenseful and entertaining. I'm so sick of this society.
