Anaphylaxis Reaction after allergy shot treatment
I was taking allergy shot treatment and after about 3 months, I had an anaphylaxis reaction that was near death. They had to give me 3 epinephrine shots, lots of steroids and iv to save my life. Few days After I had a call with my allergy specialist. He recommending going back on allergy shot treatment at a lower dose. I was shocked that a doctor would recommend the same treatment that is life threatening to me. I asked the doctor: can you guarantee I won’t have an anaphylaxis reaction again? Doctors said he cannot guarantee and then I said : I don’t need to go back on the treatment then. I got a second opinion from another allergy specialist and this doctor also recommended going back on allergy shot treatment at a Lower dose. I was speechless. Is this a common practice with allergy specialists ? If a patient is allergic to a drug such as penicillin or something, they never recommend giving the drug to the patient. Why would allergy specialists be recommend going back on allergy shot treatment after such a life threatening reaction?
In addition, I used to only have pollen allergies and would sneeze and need an inhaler in spring time during allergy season. I never had any allergies to any food. Since the anaphylaxis reaction I now have developed food allergies to rye and sesame , whenever I eat anything with rye or sesame, i start to feel dizzy and my legs go numb and I start to shake uncontrollably. I told the allergy specialists and they said there is no chance I have food allergies or these allergies could develop due to allergy shot treatment. They are saying I have PTSD and I am experiencing panic attacks. I told them it only happens within 5 min of eating something specific like rye or sesame. They said , that’s just a coincidence and it cannot happen. So I said: do a food allergy test on me. They were reluctant but ordered the antibody blood test for me. The allergy specialist even said: I can tell you 100% your results will come in negative. The results are back and they are positive for both rye and sesame food allergy. Now the allergy specialists are saying correlation does not means causation and it cannot be due to allergy shot treatment and allergies can develop naturally and the tests could be false positive so I have to do a blind food challenge test for 5 hours a day for 3 days to confirm the results. Has anyone experienced these kind of reactions or food allergies develop after the allergy shot treatment? What do you think of the doctors? I feel like they are in denial and crazy, and I am surprised they are doctors.
